Holy Vestments – Are We Overdoing It?

Absolutely not.

Listen, I have rebelled and rebelled, but the Holiest of all kept convicting me. There is a level of inward revelation that demands outward expression. There’s a depth of healing that begins to shape not just our minds and hearts, but even how we choose to clothe ourselves.

Earlier this year, I made a conscious decision to dress more discreetly. Why? Because I wanted to walk in a deeper revelation of who God is in my life. I wanted Him to express Himself fully in me, without me getting in the way. I wanted to be able to reach His daughters and sons without sending mixed signals about my identity in Him.

We sometimes get caught up in the misconception that true freedom in Him means we can show up half-naked because “God loves us anyway.” And yes, He does. But the truth? True freedom is knowing that you could, but because of Love, you don’t.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh…” (Galatians 5:13)

When God renews your mind, your wardrobe follows. It’s not about shame. It’s not legalism. It’s alignment. Your garments become a reflection of what’s happening within you. And as I learned, He calls us to wear the full armor of God, not just the breastplate (like I was, hehe).

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:12)

Our vestments (what we wear) can either glorify Him or blur the message. Holiness isn’t a dress code, but a calling. Yet how we dress can bear witness to the sacredness within us.

For me, Gardenia isn’t just a brand. It’s a response. A response to Him, to His grace, to His invitation: “Be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)

*What? I was trading this for a mini skirt. Literally just realised this*

I made adjustments to my vestments. And if I did, Maybe it’s time you try too.
